Transpotting

Trainspotting is a very intense independent film. The characters in this movie delivered overwhelming performances. I say overwhelming because the situations they put themselves into were both depressing and horrible. It was wild to see the images the film presented. For example, when the baby had died from accidently consuming the drug heroine; that scene was definitely SICK. Ultimately, I thought the movie served a great point, not in the way I would but for the sake of the movie it was relatable to the audience.

NOIR ChInATOWn

The movie Chinatown did not live up to my expectations. I thought the opening was very boring and dry. Also, the concept of the entire narrative I felt was dreary. There was no excitement or suspense. The idea of the water dumping was extremely uninteresting and when the woman revealed that she had been raped by her father and that her sister was also her daughter, it was a complete surprise, however not the kind of surprise to enjoy the movie or film.

FOREIGN MOVIE

The movie Breathless was part of the new French Wave in the 1960’s. The movie possessed a very different approach and style. For example, the camera angles were very distinctive and random. The unusual technique showed a more normal and ordinary setting, however the characters in the movie were able replace the ordinary by the unique narrative of the film.

I thought the story was acceptable for the French style but not adequate for the American style films. I feel that the sense of humor and perceptions are very different amongst the people in the US and France. Nevertheless, the US audience will appreciate the movie, but if this movie was to be copied and remade, the reactions will definitely be reversed.

Similar to breathless the movie Ameile is considerably the same when it is compared with the unique camera angles and random scenes. Although the story is interesting, I feel it misses the right kind of emotions that it is trying to portray.

Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane is definitely a memorable film. After watching the film, it was easy to see why this movie is still number one. The story is unpredictable and keeps the audience guessing and interested. I appreciated the acting and the constant circulation of suspense throughout the movie.

It was fascinating and fulfilling to discover the meaning of Mr.Kane's last word, "ROSEBUD." I believe the conclusion of the movie was most surprising and unexpected. Citizen Kane is definitely a must watch!

MY MOVIE**

American History X came out in 1998. The movie was also nominated for an Oscar and is thirty-nine on the top 250. The movie is critically acclaimed by audiences even today. The work by Edward Norton was especially noticed by both the critics and the audience. Edward Norton won two awards for his performance in American History X. He won the Golden Satellite Award and SEFCA award for best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama. The story deals with the issue of racism and how much the life of these characters is affected by it. The danger that surrounds the characters in this movie is both tragic and heartbreaking. The movie is set in a suburban area where racism remains the crucial aspect of living. Derek vineyard and Danny vineyard are brothers who must strive to conquer this issue. While this challenge is exceedingly difficult, Derek puts forth great effort to achieve this objective. However, as the story progresses the audience realizes that this revolutionary change is not a painless mission.

sing'in in the rain:)

I have to admit, I really enjoy watching western musicals. The ones that I had the pleasure of watching are very famous and well-known musicals, West Side Story and The Wizard of Oz. Before this class I thought these musicals were the only prominent musicals in the US film industry. Nevertheless, after watching Sing ‘in In the Rain, I was both surprised and amazed. I found the story very funny for its time and remarkable. The characters in the movie fit into their roles perfectly and delivered the most satisfying singing and dancing performances. I thought the plot of the movie was extremely exciting and fun to watch. Overall, Sing ‘in in The Rain is a very good film, which offers an exciting storyline.

NOSFERATU!

I can’t remember a specific film that featured Dracula. However, I do remember a classic scene from the movie wax work, which portrayed a much different version of Dracula when compared to Nosferatu. In this scene a young woman is observing a set up of sculptures made of wax. She is seduced by the waxed figurine of Dracula and walks into the setup, which brings her through a portal where this Dracula is no longer a waxed figurine but is as real as her. He has the same characteristics as the older version Dracula; however, he is a more handsome version. When I think of the different versions of Dracula’s, this scene form wax work always comes to mind.
